Fake Anti-Virus infections are a leading cause of computer malfunctions today.

This video shows what they look like and what happens to your computer.

If this happens to you, do NOT click on anything that is presented!

Instead, do this:

1) Close all of your non-browser-related applications (Word, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) normally.  Be careful not to accidentally click on any other windows.

2) Kill all remaining applications with Task Manager:  Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager > Applications Tab > select and highlight each process listed and kill them with "End Task".  Keep doing this until all the applications shown are killed.

3) Immediately scan your computer for infection with your security software.  Allow it to quarantine any malicious items it finds.

4) Scan your computer with all of the advanced products listed below.  Allow them to quarantine any malware found.  You may have to run these scans from Safe Mode to facilitate removal.

5) Closely monitor your computer and note any changes in behavior.

6) Call us if you need help.

We recommend for advanced scanning:

Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org)

HitMan Pro (http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro)

If you have any questions about how to strengthen your defenses, please give us a call.  We don't want to have to reinstall your operating system due to malware!
